In recovery
I just was able to see her in recovery. She’s a little groggy from the anesthesia but otherwise feeling okay. Might get to leave soon.

Surgery is complete
Dr. Nyquist just called. Surgery is done, everything went well, the stent is out. There was a little inflammation in the area so they injected steroids and will send her home with steroids as well. He said the opening looks like has healed so he’s again hopeful that is stays open but time will tell.…

Surgery #5 scheduled
Surgery is scheduled for June 29, 2026, 8:00 am, need to be there at 6:00 am. Hope to be home by 2:00 pm.

Pre-op appointment
Went to Jefferson for pre-op. The surgery should be fairly straightforward unless the stent doesn’t want to come out. But they expect her to be discharged later the same day with minimal restrictions.

Stent removal?
Dr. Nyquist called and said that, after discussing with other specialists, they recommend removing the stent. Scans show that it appears to be a safe distance from her carotid artery. Melinda’s been feeling great since her last surgery, no symptoms, no headaches, everything‘s been great — the stent is effective.
