Dr. Nyquist called and said that, after discussing with other specialists, they recommend removing the stent.
Scans show that it appears to be a safe distance from her carotid artery. But, as a foreign body, they worry that its prolonged presence will cause inflammation which could spread to the artery. Carotid artery damage could be catastrophic.
Surgery is planned for late June.
